Wingfoil is the watersport everyone's talking about — and for good reason. You hold a light inflatable "wing" in your hands and ride a board fitted with a hydrofoil. Once you have enough speed, the foil lifts you clear of the surface and you glide almost silently above the water. It looks like magic; it's surprisingly learnable.
Essaouira's steady cross-shore wind and open bay make it an ideal classroom. Beginners start by handling the wing on the beach, then on a big stable board, and finally up on the foil. Because the wing is so manageable, many people are riding within just a few sessions.
