If you've ever dreamed of standing up on a surfboard, Essaouira's main bay is one of the kindest places to try. Sheltered by the island and the harbour wall, the inside of the bay smooths the Atlantic swell into gentle, rolling waves that break over soft sand — exactly what you want when you're learning.
Lessons start on the beach with the basics: paddling, popping up and reading the water. Within a single session most beginners are already riding the white water to the shore. Boards and wetsuits are included, and our bay is friendly enough that we welcome surfers from age 6 and up.
